Prof. Dr Jim van Os is a recovery-oriented psychiatrist and Chairman of the Division of Neurosciences at the Utrecht University Medical Centre. He is also Visiting Professor of Psychiatric Epidemiology at the Institute of Psychiatry in London.
Jim works at the interface of ‘hard’ brain science, health services research, art and the subjective experiences of people with ‘lived experience’ of mental health care.
Since 2014, Jim has been on the Thomson Reuters Web of Science list of ‘the most influential scientific minds of our time’. In 2014, he published his book ‘Beyond DSM-V’, and in 2016 the book ‘Quality Mental Health Care’.
Jim also has family members who have lived with psychosis.
